Report: Former Sailor Breese to transfer to Edinboro

ERIE, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Erie Times-News’ Tom Reisenwber tweeted today that former Lakeview all-state football standout and heavyweight wrestling champion Sam Breese has transferred from Kent State to Edinboro to play football.

Breese was on the Golden Flashes’ wrestling team last season where he posted an 18-16 record with six pins while placing second at the Purple Raider Open and at the Edinboro Open.

On the gridiron, Breese accumulated 290 tackles for the Sailors. He topped the 100-tackle plateau in each his junior (101) and senior seasons (104). He also finished his prep career with 23 ½ sacks, including 12 quarterback takedowns in 2013.

The Fighting Scots closed out the 2014 campaign with a 3-8 mark but won their last two contests over Seton Hill (31-27) and Millersville (21-9). Edinboro is coached by Scott Browning, who is beginning his 10th season at the helm.
