CLEARFIELD, Pa. (AP) – Authorities say three inmates have been charged in a disturbance at a central Pennsylvania prison that injured five guards and prompted a lockdown earlier this year.
Clearfield County prosecutors said 51-year-old Norman Wothman, 26-year-old Yafest Oliver and 34-year-old Richard Adams are facing charges including aggravated assault, assault by prisoner, riot and disorderly conduct.
District Attorney William Shaw Jr. said SCI-Houtzdale guards who responded to an April 28 fight in the recreation yard between Adams and another inmate were “assaulted by multiple inmates.”
Prosecutors allege that Adams and Oliver “kicked, stomped and punched” a guard while he was on the ground, and Oliver and Wothman are accused of assaulting other officers.
Shaw said other arrests are expected.
Court documents don’t list attorneys for the defendants who could respond to the charges.
