YSU welcomes freshmen, offering free parking for first week

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Monday, YSU has a couple of days planned to help incoming students get to know the campus.

YSU is hosting its first Ignite event from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As part of the event, first-year students rotate through a series of sessions on everything from gender-based violence to conflict resolution and diversity. YSU President Jim Tressel will give his 2015 State of the University address Tuesday morning in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center.

Fall semester classes start Wednesday.

In addition, free parking is available on YSU’s campus for the first week of classes. For the third year in a row, Home Savings is offering free parking at all meters that surround the university during the first week of classes.

Those meters will stay covered through Friday.
