NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) – Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pa., announced that it will be closing its maternity care center Wednesday, Aug. 19, instead of the expected date of September 1, according to a press release sent Tuesday.
The center is closing because the hospital didn’t have enough staff members to keep up 24-hour services, according to Jameson Public Relations Director Lisa Lombardo.
“Our labor and delivery birthing service is not only valued by our organization and our community – most fittingly, it is loved,” Jameson Health System President Doug Danko said. “It will always be remembered and honored as a service that brought lives into our community and life into our world.”
The hospital says it has contacted patients expecting to deliver children between August 20 and August 31 to make other arrangements.
