Back to school: More than pens and paper

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The back to school season is wrapping up. But maybe they don’t have everything you need at the office store.

Family Nurse Practitioner Julie Newman with CVS Minute Clinic says the drug store is a good stop. She recommends hand sanitizer so the kids keep their hands clean. That’s IF the school district allows it.

And she says now is the time to start some healthy habits. “It’s time that you start going to bed at your normal routine. No more late nights. You have to make sure you’re getting up and eating a healthy breakfast. You have to make sure you’re going in with your best foot forward to start the school year off again.”

Newman says sports physicals and yearly check-ups can help prevent a child from an injury or getting sick.
