YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown is one step closer to having an amphitheater after the city’s board of control approved a contract Thursday with an architecture firm to start preliminary designs.
WKBN received a copy of the contract with MKSK out of Columbus. Two Youngstown firms were also in the running.
The amphitheatre will be located near the Covelli Centre, between the South Avenue and Market Street bridges.
The contract also includes design work for an entertainment district in downtown. Governor John Kasich signed a law allowing outdoor entertainment districts with alcohol in April.
The contract estimates the cost of the project at around $145,000.
