Key Losses: Receiving threat and First-Team All-Region defensive back A’Royal Ali graduated this past Spring. His big play ability will be missed in 2015. Ali caught a team-high 47 passes for an average of 13.1 yards per catch (5 TDs). A major loss on defense will be felt across the front line this fall without the presence of Derrick Forrest, who was named to the Second-Team All-Region last year.

Key Returnees: Senior quarterback Andrew Tomko completed 150 of 277 passes for 2061 yards (17 TDs, 5 INTs) in 2014. Even without Ali, Tomko still has plenty of targets around including Ziyon Strickland (30 catches, 461 yards) and Zach Meszaros (30 catches, 341 yards). Junior running back Jeremiah Norris returns after a 615 yard season on the ground while also snagging 16 passes for 193 yards.

Key Storyline: In coach Wildman’s third season since returning to the sidelines, Sharon appears to have the right mix to improve on their 6-5 mark which they’ve had in each of the last two seasons. Can the group get by Hickory and Greenville en route to contend for a District crown?

Strengths: Offensively, Sharon looks primed to increase their scoring output from last year (23.5) to become a team which can really move the ball behind the play of Tomko, Norris, Strickland, Meszaros, and Da’mon Rudolph (337 rushing yards, 7 TDs). The line lost Derrick Forrest and Cam McCarthy but return a trio of starters up front.

Weaknesses: The loss of Forrest will be felt throughout camp this summer. The staff hopes that they have another stalwart up front along the defensive line while Rudolph is one of the best linebackers in the middle in all of District 10.

Game to Watch: October 30 at Greenville
…Not many in the Sharon community will soon forget the 21-14 playoff loss last year at the hands of Greenville. Four weeks earlier, the Trojans got by the Tigers by two points (22-20).
