Lisbon man killed in Pa Turnpike crash


A Lisbon man was killed Friday morning when he was hit by an 18-wheeler on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania State Police say 73-year-old Glen Helman was checking tires on his commercial vehicle when he was struck. He had pulled onto the shoulder on the eastbound side of the toll road in Hampton Township in Allegheny County. The accident happened at milepost 42.

Helman drove for R & L Carriers. The other truck driver is from York, Pa. There’s no word on any charges.
