2 OVI arrests in weekend Boardman, North Lima checkpoints

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Members of the Mahoning County OVI Task Force and Ohio State Highway Patrol charged two people with operating a vehicle while intoxicated as a part of a pair of weekend checkpoints Friday night into Saturday morning, according to a press release.

Police examined 562 vehicles at the checkpoints, located in Boardman and North Lima, and cited two people for seat belt violations and another person for an improper use of a child restraint.

Police also issued one citation for child restraint, one summons for driving under suspension, one citation for no operator’s license, two summons for drug abuse, one summons for an open container of alcohol, one summons for furnishing false information to officer to avoid citation, one citation for an unsafe vehicle, one citation for failing to maintain a safe distance and one citation for failing to stop at a stop sign.
