Police working to ID body found in Ashtabula

ASHTABULA, Ohio (WKBN) – Police in Ashtabula are working to determine if a body found in a shallow grave is that of a woman who’s been missing for over a week.

The body was uncovered in the yard of the home that 36-year-old Mandy Gottschalk shared with her boyfriend. Gottschalk’s mother told a Cleveland news station that the body is that of her daughter, but police have not released the identity.

Police said Gottschalk was with her boyfriend at Geneva on the Lake last week but left early with a female friend.

Her boyfriend told police he came home about 4 a.m. and Gottschalk wasn’t here.
