Big 22 preseason contenders announced

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It’s that part of the high school football preseason, where we stop talking about teams, and focus on the players.  2015 marks the 10th anniversary of our Big 22… and there is no shortage of talented local standouts in contention.  The following are a few of the kids that caught the attention of Sports Team 27 during camp.

The following are just a few of the players that will compete for our Big 22 this year.  We’ve got more than 100 players from every school in the Valley nominated at  WKBN.com.

We begin at Warren Harding with Big 22 veteran Keemari Murry… but the Raiders senior tailback won’t be alone this year… junior quarterback Lynn Bowden will join him the backfield.

Howland has a couple of front runners as well… with Northwestern recruit Tommy Carnifax, and junior playmaker Victor Williams.

Future Buckeye, George Hill made the Big 22 last year… Hubbard’s senior quarterback Cam Ingram will look to join his this season.

No shortage of quality QB’s in the AAC this year… with Lakeview’s Angelo Marino, Struthers junior A.J. Musolino, Girard senior Jake Ryser, and Brookfield’s three year starter Augustus Necastro.

Jacob Esarco will help bolster Canfield’s offensive line this season, while Youngstown East senior Tabrian Donlow will look to rough it up. Boardman’s Mario Graziani will carry the rock for the Spartans, while LaBrae senior Keevon Harris headlines the Vikings.

Over in the ITCL… Columbiana QB Mitch Davidson is already the school’s all-time leading passer…Graham Mincher will look to put up big number for Springfield, while Jake Reckard runs wild for McDonald. Lisbon has a pair of Blue Devils on our list… with senior quarterback Josh Liberati and junior tailback Jason Thompson.

Greg Dunham will represent South Range, and Zach Hicks carries the load for Crestview.

Division One recruit Andrew Armstrong will help lead Cardinal Mooney’s cause…Jabbar Price will anchor the line for Ursuline… and Jacob Coates will supply the offense for Warren JFK.

Over in Western Pennsylvania… Sharon has a couple of kids to watch in senior quarterback Andrew Tomko, and linebacker Da’Mon Rudolph.

Farrell will lean on senior Malachi Newell, and the big man for the Big Reds this year will be West Middlesex senior Josh Porterfield.

We finish in Hermitage… where the Hornets have plenty to pick from… thousand yard rusher Charles Carr returns… along with Big 22 veteran, and the most recruited player in our area… Hickory senior Andrew Pryts.
