Gas explosion closes part of Rt. 8 in PA

Road closed

OIL CITY, Pa. (WKBN) – Part of Route 8 in Barkeyville Borough in Venango County, is closed on both the northbound and southbound sides due to a gasoline storage tank explosion at the Heath Tank Farm, according to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

According to the release, the closure extends from the intersection of Route 8 and Route 208, also known as Clintonville-Barkeyville Road, to the Route 308 exit, where the towns of Pearl and Bullion are located.

The road is expected to reopen at noon Thursday, according to PennDOT officials.
