Gas temporarily dips below $1 at Youngstown station

gas prices under one dollar at struthers ohio gas station

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – A gas station at the intersection of Midlothian Boulevard and Route 170 in Struthers offered gas for 99 cents per gallon Thursday morning.

The owner of the station said that the price is a promotion to celebrate the store’s recent renovation. Thursday morning, he told WKBN that he planned to keep the price at 99 cents all of Thursday, but raised the price to just under $2 Thursday afternoon due to traffic concerns.

Some people at the BP station were waiting in line for as long as an hour Thursday morning.

The Valero across the street was charging $1.96 per gallon Thursday morning.

Prices in the Youngstown area have been falling since Tuesday, when reported that a key refinery in northwest Indiana was back up and running after being closed for unexpected repairs.

Average gas prices for the Valley are hovering around $2.40, according to GasBuddy.

Other gas stations in the Youngstown area had prices dipping below the two dollar mark as well.

Cars were lined up two and three deep at the Shell station at Market Street and Avondale waiting for gas at $1.99 a gallon.

Even though there was a line, there were no traffic issues at that location. Drivers kept the lines moving in the parking lot, and out of the street.
