They're planning action after their Youngstown issue was turned down for the fall ballot. Aug. 27, 2015

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – FrackFree Mahoning Valley got together in a town hall format Thursday night, trying to determine their next course of action. The Mahoning County Board of Elections refused to certify their issue for the ballot.

Susie Beiersdorfer with the group is concerned about communications between local and state leaders. She has submitted several public records requests. They’re also considering suing.

Beiersdorfer says government can’t even get the terminology right. “Groups are intending to sue the E.P.A. within 60 days if they don’t come out with new regulations and rename what they’re calling brine or residual waste. It’s toxic waste.”

The elections board was inclined to approve the ballot measure restricting drilling in the city of Youngstown. But they were advised the issue would violate state law, and turned thumbs down.
