Hudson pulls away in the second, drops Fitch

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Uneven play and an offense that struggled to get into a rhythm led the Austintown Fitch Falcons to fall to the visiting Hudson Explorers 30-8.

Stymied boy the tough defense of Hudson, the Falcons were forced to punt the ball away. Fielding the kick deep in their own territory, Hudson returner Matt Restifo broke the Falcons’ coverage team on a 93 yard touchdown.

Two Hudson field goals put the Explorers ahead 13-0.

Trying to find their offensive footing, the Falcons turned to a back-up quarterback to get things going. Following a Tyler Price interception, the Falcons took the ball 41 yards in three plays, capped off with a Ben Nishimura to Carlos Harriott touchdown pass.

A successful two-point conversion closed the Hudson lead to 13-8.

A third Hudson field goal made it 16-8 at the half.

In the second half, Hudson’s defense tightened and the Explorers pulled away with two second half touchdowns to send them home with the victory.

Austintown Fitch will travel to Brunswick in week two. Hudson will host Strongsville.
