Champion’s run game too much for Waterloo

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Golden Flashes registered a 28-7 win over Waterloo this evening.

Champion gained 6.5 yards per carry on the ground (36 attempts, 235 yards) compared to just 2.0 stripes per tote for the Vikings (40 carries, 81 yards). Bailey Slyk ran for 93 yards on 7 carries for the Flashes as Nate Stahlman gained 81 yards on 13 rushes. Champion’s quarterback Brandon Allen threw for 67 yards and ran for another 37.

Champion’s defense forced two turnovers (1 INT/1 fumble) and held Waterloo to just 8 first downs.

The Vikings dropped their final six games of 2014 to finish with a 2-8 mark. Since their week one 49-20 victory over Southern, Waterloo was only able to register a scoring average of 8.7 points over their final nine games.

Champion will take on Conneaut at home next week. Waterloo will welcome East Canton in their home opener.
