Lowellville crushed in opener

LOWELLVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – Nothing went the Lowellville Rockets way in their season opener against Lucas as the Rockets fall 70-0.

Taking the opening kick off all the way to the Rockets’ one-yard line, the Cubs punched it in for the game’s first score.

On their next possession, it only took two plays to increase the lead to 14-0 when Mason Galco took the ball 72 yards for the score.

With 2:33 remaining in the opening quarter, it was Galco again, this time from 46 yards out to put the Cubs up 21-0.

Galco’s strong night continued on a 50 yard touchdown run, increasing the lead to four scores.

With 6:17 remaining in the half, the Cubs’ special teams created a score when Alex Switzer blocked and covered a Lowellville punt in the end zone for a 35-0 lead.

Later in the half, Jeb Grover punched it in from one yard out to give the Cubs a 42-0 lead.

Then it was Galco again, this time from 54 yards out to increase the lead to 49-0.

Having already scored on offense and on special teams, the Cubs’ defense got into the mix on a Grover 27 yard interception return for a touchdown with 10:20 remaining in the third quarter, increasing the lead to 55-0.

The scoring continued when Jackson Hauger took the ball 33 yards for the score, making it 62-0.

Lowellville will host Windham in week two.
