NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WKBN) – On the sideline for the first time as a head coach, Josh Franke and the Newton Falls Tigers could not overcome visiting Rootstown, losing 48-21.

The Tigers offense struggled to get moving most of the game but their defense created big plays thanks to players like Colton Hunt.

Rootstown will play host to Fairport Harding in week two. Newton Falls will host Jackson-Milton.

—Defense came to play early, handoff up the middle but the defensive line sends it right back for a loss.

—Next play, quarterback Luke Sorboro rolls to his left but Colton Hunt lays a huge hit on Sorboro for the sack, defense looked good early.

—But their offense struggled, leading to good field position for Rootstown who takes advantage, end around to Caleb Kaut who gets in from a few yards out…Rootstown runs away with this one…48-21.
