Ursuline builds lead, holds on for win

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Building a four touchdown lead, Ursuline held off Youngstown East on Friday night, 28-13, to pick up the win in their season opener.

Breaking the scoreless tie, Deion Edwards rushed to ball in from eight yards out to give the Irish the early 7-0 lead.

Later a Jared Fabry nine yard scramble increased the Ursuline lead to two scores.

Then it was Daylen Harris from four yards out, making it 21-0.

The Irish then turned to Edwards again whose second score made it 28-0.

Down four scores, the Panthers James Boatwright connected with Imoni Donadelle for a 71 yard touchdown pass, cutting into the Ursuline lead 28-7.

Later in the fourth quarter, Larry Reed punched it in to bring East within 15 points, 28-13, but Ursuline would hold them off to pick up the win.

Ursuline will host Cleveland Benedictine.  Youngstown East will travel to University School.
