DEERFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Route 14 in Deerfield Township reopened Friday just after 3 p.m. after emergency crews cleared the wreckage of a one-vehicle crash that happened early Friday morning.
The crash left a man in critical condition and prompted an emergency medical team to come to the scene.
Deerfield Assistant Fire Chief David Allison heard the crash from his house down the street at about 3:00 a.m. and called 911.
“He yelled for help and I says, ‘I’m here to help you,'” Allison said about the man injured in the crash.. “I says, ‘I’m getting equipment here and get you out as soon as I can get you out.'”
The firefighters worked for about two hours to help cut the victim from the vehicle.
An emergency medical team, which normally travels by helicopter, came to the scene via ambulance due to poor weather conditions. The team worked on the man, then transported him to a nearby hospital.
Police did not immediately release the victim’s name.
