Salem’s late rally pushes them to 2-0

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – Over the course of the game’s final 7 minutes, Salem outscored United 17-0 to win the contest 23-13.

Matt Weingart led the team back with a fourth quarter touchdown pass and run to secure the victory for the Quakers. Weingart completed 8 of 15 for 73 yards. Kade Byland ran 14 times for 86 yards while Cooper Bezeredi had 82 stripes on 15 carries. Salem’s defense held United to just 83 yards rushing and a 2.2 per carry average.

The Golden Eagles’ Colton Graham connected on 10 of 19 passing for 166 yards. Colton Antram gained 54 yards on 15 rushes.

The Quakers have now won 5 of their last 7 meetings with United. Salem and the Eagles have now met twelve straight years.
