Trailing by a touchdown in the first quarter, Springfield turned to the hot hand of quarterback Graham Mincher who connected with Cody Allen on a 45 yard touchdown pass, knotting the game at 7-7.

With a 10-7 lead, Springfield struck in the third quarter on Mincher’s second touchdown pass of the night, this time to Jake Ford from 30 yard out to increase the Tiger lead to 17-7.

But the Blue Devils were not going to go down easy. With 11:18 to play in the game, McDonald punched it in to shrink the lead to a field goal, 17-14.

Then, with only 5:47 remaining the Blue Devils took the lead on a six yard touchdown run to take the lead, 21-17.

As time ticked down, Springfield drove down the field to set up a Mincher one yard touchdown run with 1:30 remaining to regain the lead, 24-17.

McDonald took the ball with one minute remaining but couldn’t muster a final drive, turning the ball over on downs, clinching the Springfield win.
