Ex-lawyer accused of hypnotizing women pleads not guilty

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) – A former Ohio attorney accused of hypnotizing female clients for his sexual gratification has pleaded not guilty to charges including kidnapping, rape and attempted sexual battery.

The Chronicle-Telegram reports 58-year-old Michael Fine declined to comment after arraignment Thursday in Lorain County court. The newspaper reports his lawyer said any comments by Fine would be made in court.

Fine’s attorney previously said the Avon man has been undergoing medical treatment.

Police in the northeast Ohio village of Sheffield began investigating Fine last fall. Authorities say two women told investigators they believed they’d been hypnotized after losing track of time and being unable to recall meetings and phone calls with Fine.

Police say they recorded Fine using explicit language with the women.

He has resigned as an attorney.
