Youngstown water break cuts service to south side customers

A water break interrupted service on the south side of Youngstown.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Some Youngstown residents were without water Monday night after a water main burst on the city’s south side.

Youngstown Water crews got to the corner of Sheridan Road and Meadowbrook Avenue around 8:30 work on the broken line. The break did not require local residents to boil their water before using it for drinking or cooking.

Workers found the source of the leak about an hour later and had to dig up part of the street to replace the pipe.

Dave Dieter lives nearby and said he felt bad for dozens of his neighbors without water because of how hot it was overnight.

“They can’t take showers and stuff like that or wash dishes or flush the toilet,” Dieter said.

Crews are expected to finish up the repair work early Tuesday morning.
