Fire forces workers from Canfield business

Workers were forced from Canfield Star Extruded after a fire broke out.

CANFIELD , Ohio (WKBN) – Workers in Canfield returned to work Wednesday after a fire broke out late Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called out to Star Extruded Shapes along Herbert Road around midnight.

A piece of equipment caught fire, filling the facility with smoke. Workers were evacuated from the building.

“The workers that were apparently working at the machine when the fire started and attempted to put it out with fire extinguishers and then got pushed out by smoke,” said Chief Don Hutchison, Cardinal Joint Fire District.

One of the workers inhaled some of the smoke and was treated at the scene.

This is the second fire at the business in four months, as another one broke out in late May.
