WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County Engineer Randy Smith announced Thursday he’s seeking a loan to build a truck wash at the Engineer’s Office on North River Road.

In collaboration with the County Commissioners, city of Warren, Howland Township, Warren City Schools and Howland and Champion Local Schools, the Engineer’s Office will apply for a zero percent interest loan from the state’s Local Government Innovation Fund Program.

The Engineer’s Office hopes to put the $500,000 toward a two bay truck wash facility they say will help maintain their fleets.

“We’re being asked to do more with less, and, you know, it takes men off the road to sit there and wash the vehicles. It takes a lot of manpower to do that and do it efficiently. This’ll do it more efficiently and will take no manpower. If you can get it done in five to ten minutes, it saves a lot of labor,” said Gary Shaffer, Trumbull County Engineer.

The total cost of the project has not been finalized but is estimated at $800,000 which will be paid for with usage of the facility.
