Gruber, Mooney roll over Akron North

The Cardinals put up 41 first half points to blow by the Vikings.

Akron, OH (WKBN) – Cardinal Mooney raced out to an early lead Saturday morning and never looked back in a 41-12 victory over Akron North.

Mooney scored five rushing touchdowns in the first half, three by Cleveland Gruber before the starters were pulled. Ray Anderson and Devon McNutt also ran in touchdowns, while Breyshon Lott returned a punt 60 yards for another score.

The clock ran in the second half due to the mercy rule, and Mooney played younger players, primarily keeping the ball on the ground.

The Cardinals improve to 2-1 on the season and travel to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary next Friday for a 7 PM kickoff.
