Ohio man killed in motorcycle accident in upstate NY

LOWVILLE, N.Y. (AP) – Police say a Cincinnati man is dead after a tractor-trailer towing a manure spreader hit his motorcycle in upstate New York.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department tells the Post-Standard of Syracuse ((http://bit.ly/1XXc5E2 ) that 25-year-old Darius Wilkinson was thrown from the motorcycle in the town of Lowville on Friday.

Wilkinson was pronounced dead at the scene. A second motorcyclist also was hit by the tractor. He was treated for a leg injury.

The sheriff’s office says the tractor-trailer’s driver made a left turn and failed to see the two motorcycles traveling in his path.

Deputies say the motorcyclists tried unsuccessfully to avoid the tractor-trailer.

No tickets have been issued. The investigation is continuing.
