Sweeney ‘drive’ event to benefit Boardman High School

Sweeney Buick GMC hosted a test drive event to Boardman High School.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC hosted a one-day test-drive event Saturday to help raise thousands of dollars for student programs at Boardman High School. It’s all part of the Buick Drive for Your Students event.

Buick will donate $10 to the fund for every participant who test-drives a new Buick. If there are more than 100 test drives, Buick will double its donation to $20 per valid test drive.

Up to $10,000 can be raised for the school.

By noon on Saturday the dealership has already recorded 100 people through the door.

“This event today benefits the Boardman Boosters, and they are going to utilize the dollars to go towards their stadium project,” said Meredith Mongelluzzo, marketing director for Sweeney Buick GMC.

The Buick Drive for Your Students is funded by the GM Foundation, Buick Achievers Scholarship awards 100 renewable scholarships of up to $25,000 per year. Since its inception in 2011, the program has awarded nearly $16.5 million to approximately 3,300 exceptional students.

“The Buick Drive for Your Students event presents a dynamic opportunity to support Boardman High School students, whose growth and development are of great value to the local community and state as a whole,” said Doug Sweeney, President. “We are thrilled to play a role in accelerating students’ futures.”
