MINNESOTA (CNN) – Popular restaurant chain Chipotle is said to be the source of a salmonella outbreak in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Health says investigators have not identified the specific Chipotle item that caused the outbreak, but that the restaurant chain recently switched suppliers of the suspected items in question.

More than 40 salmonella cases have been reported since last week.

The cases originated from 17 Chipotle restaurants in the state in mid to late August.

Chipotle says it is working with the health department and that its customers’ safety is the highest priority.
