CLEVELAND (AP) – Cleveland police say a 3-year-old boy wounded in a drive-by shooting has died of his injuries.
Police said in a release that the boy wounded in a Tuesday night shooting died early Wednesday after surgery at a Cleveland hospital.
Police say a 24-year-old woman also was shot in the drive-by. Her condition wasn’t immediately available.
Authorities say preliminary information showed the child and the woman were passengers in a vehicle fired upon by occupants of another vehicle. Police say the woman is not the child’s mother.
The shooting comes about two weeks after the shooting of 5-year-old Ramon Burnett, who was shot and killed while playing football behind his grandmother’s home in Cleveland. Two men have been charged with aggravated murder in the 5-year-old’s death.
