Senior quarterback Trae Hillyar turned an option-run on a fourth and less than a yard into a 19 yard touchdown with 9:04 remaining in the first quarter to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead. The score was set up by a Cameron Thorn interception on Minerva’s opening drive of the game.
After a more than 30 minute delay because of a power outage at the stadium, the Warriors picked up right where they left off with Hillyer getting his second rushing score with 10:16 left in the second quarter to extend the lead to 14-0.
Warriors QB T.J. DeShields then connected with Jeremy Gorby for an 18 yard passing score to extend the Warrior lead again, this time to 21-0.
DeShields then squeezed one more score in before the half, finding Austin Smith for a touchdown with just nine seconds remaining.
The Warriors would respond to Minerva’s lone touchdown in the game in the second half with a Brett Butcher 94 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
West Branch will host Carrollton in week five.
