John Carroll student creates portrait of Pope Francis from 5,000 nails

A John Carroll University student crafted a portrait of Pope Francis from nails.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — John Carroll Catholic High School student Nick Bertani crafted a giant art installation for his art class of Pope Francis.

However, it isn’t your average portrait! Bertani carefully placed 5,000 nails, one at a time, on a canvas to form the pope’s face.

Nick’s mother Susan said they donated the art installation to their church where it will soon be on display.
