Police investigating shooting of teen in Sharon

Police are investigating the shooting of a Sharon teen on Friday.

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after he was shot in the back of the leg in Sharon.

Police said the shooting occurred at 3:15 p.m. at the corner of New Castle Avenue and George Street. The teen was shot at multiple times, but he was only hit once — the bullet grazing the back of his leg.

The victim was treated at UPMC Horizon. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police are investigating the incident but do not know how many shooters were involved and have no suspects. Investigators said the shots appear to have been fired from a wooded lot in a residential area nearby, and investigators are reviewing security footage at area businesses.
