AKRON, Ohio (WKBN) – A Hubbard family ran 26.2 miles Saturday at the Akron Marathon to say “thank you” to the medical team that saved a family member’s life.

Colin Burdette is the Hubbard High School football and soccer player who was seriously injured in an ATV accident last September.

His family ran the marathon as a relay team, plugging in different runners for various stretches of the race. Colin participated too; he got to cross the finish line.

The Burdettes also raised $8,000 for Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron.

Colin broke nearly every bone in his face, broke both arms, lacerated his spleen, and had a severe concussion from the accident. He was airlifted to Akron Children’s after his accident and had two ten-hour surgeries at the hospital.
