Warren JFK notches big road win

The Eagles defeated Steubenville Catholic Central to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Steubenville, OH (WKBN) – The Warren JFK football team built a 14 point halftime lead and went on to defeat Steubenville Catholic Central, 38-28 at Harding Stadium Saturday night.

The Eagles got on the board first, after Ross Nocera capped off a nice drive with a one yard touchdown run to make it a 7-0 game early. Later in the quarter, the Crusaders tied it at 7 on a touchdown run by Seth Potenzini.

Less than to minutes into the second quarter, a power outage throughout half the stadium resulted in about a 20 minute delay. The lights finally rebooted, and the Eagles marched down the field on their next drive.

Quarterback Bobby Jefferson and tailback Evan Boyd ripped off a couple nice runs to set up another Ross Nocera one yard touchdown run. JFK made it a 14-7 game at that point. Jacob Coates also added a touchdown late in the half to make it a 21-7 game at the break.

The second half was back and forth, with the Eagles putting up 17 more points to hold on for the 38-28 victory.

Warren JFK improves to 4-1 on the season and host Cleveland Central Catholic next Saturday at 7 PM at Mollenkopf Stadium.
