East Palestine councilman resigns

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) – An East Palestine village councilman resigned Monday night, and a new councilman was appointed in his place by a coin toss.

According to the Morning Journal, first-term councilman Fran Figley resigned for personal reasons. He also withdrew from the council race this November.

Because the election is so close, council decided to fill his seat with a coin toss rather than hold a special election.

Former fire Chief Brett Todd won the toss.
