Boardman shuts out Canfield

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A defensive battle in Boardman for this week’s Game of the Week, where the Spartans did just enough to pick up their third win on the season, topping Canfield 10-0.

A defensive battle, Boardman only gained 151 yards in the first half and Canfield only mustered 31 yards of total offense as the teams entered halftime scoreless.

With 4:20 remaining in the third quarter, Boardman finally found the endzone on a 40 yard Mario Graziani touchdown run, his fourth touchdown run on the year.

With 1:31 remaining in the third quarter Adam Deely hit a 35 yard field goal to increase the Spartans’ lead to 10-0.

The last time these two teams played was in 1985 when Boardman picked up the victory 33-0.

Boardman (3-3) hits the road next week and will play Warren G. Harding.

Canfield (4-2) will try to rebound next Friday when they host Niles.
