Jefferson and Coates power Kennedy to another win

The Eagles routed Cleveland Central Catholic to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Warren, OH (WKBN) – The Warren JFK football team jumped out to an early lead and went on to defeat Cleveland Central Catholic, 40-12 Saturday at Mollenkopf Stadium.

Senior Bobby Jefferson started off his big night with an interception in the first quarter. A few minutes later, Jefferson found Jacob Coates from 30 yards out for the game’s first score.

Later in the 2nd quarter, Jefferson scampered in from 8 yards out to make it a 13-0 game. Then with under ten minutes to play in the half, Jefferson hit Coates for a 21 yard touchdown to extend their lead. Evan Boyd would add an 8 yard touchdown late in the quarter to make it 26-6 at halftime.

Both Jefferson and Boyd would add rushing touchdowns in the second half for Kennedy, who racked up 357 yards of total offense on the night. Jefferson went 6-13 passing for 99 yards with another 41 yards rushing and 4 touchdown, 2 rushing and 2 passing. Coates racked up 120 yards of total offense, while Boyd ran for 98 yards on 13 carries.

Warren JFK improves to 5-1 on the season and play at Cleveland VASJ next Saturday at 7 PM.
