Pedestrian struck, killed by police cruiser near Cleveland

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) – Authorities near Cleveland say a police cruiser responding to an emergency call struck and killed a man crossing a street.

Police in East Cleveland say the cruiser had its flashing lights on when the 21-year-old man was hit Saturday night.

He later died at a hospital.

Police say the victim rolled onto the hood of the cruiser and struck the windshield before hitting the street.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating.
