Support continues for North Jackson family recovering from loss

A fundraiser was held in North Jackson, Ohio for the Brian Newhard.

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WKBN) – WKBN 27 First News followed Brian Newhard’s battle with ALS. Now, the latest chapter in his legacy includes an event at a salon in North Jackson.

What looked like just another day at New Styles Salon was actually a day for the Newhard family. Every cut, shave and polish came with a donation for the family.

“Brian was an awesome dad. He was a fantastic husband and a great police officer,” said Shuana Graham, salon owner. “He loved his job, and we miss him a lot.”

Graham wanted to give back to the family that meant so much to her. The best way for her to do that was with a fundraiser at the salon.

Jenny Newhard said Graham’s gesture and the outpouring from the community has been pleasantly overwhelming.

“You can’t even wrap your mind around it because it is just so nice and so kind for everybody to have that much love for my husband,” Newhard said.

All proceeds from the services performed, along with money raised from a Chinese auction, are going to the Newhard family.

North Jackson Police Chief Greg Taillon is planning a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Oct. 18 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Our Lady of Lebanon Shrine.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.
