CANTON, Ohio (WKBN) – For the third straight year, the Lakeview Girls’s Golf Team has qualified for the state tournament.
The Bulldogs placed first at the District Tournament at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in Canton. It’s the second straight year that they Lady Bulldogs garnered first place honors at districts.
Lakeview Girls’ Golf Coach Mike Turco says it’s quite an accomplishment for the girls’ golf program.
“This is really a dream. I’m just so proud for how hard they work,” said Turco. “To be able to go to state for the third year in a row . It’s something they’ll treasure for a long time.”
The following are individual scores for Lakeview at Districts:
Kaylee Neumeister 77
Taylor Horn 90
Ashley Frasca 91
Emily Coller 98
Team total: 356
In 2013, Lakeview finished in 7th place at state. Last year, the Lady Bulldogs finished as Division II runner-up, just nine strokes in back of Dover.
“Experience will help,” said Turco. “The girls are comfortable at the Gray Course. They’ve played it six time including practice rounds. They know ins and outs, where to place the ball, which way the greens run. Experience will be a factor this year,” Turco added.
The 2015 Division II Girls State Golf Tournament will take place on October 16 & 17 at The Ohio State University Gray Course in Columbus.
