LEBANON, Ohio (AP) – Authorities in southwest Ohio say a man has been arrested in Arizona on a murder charge from a 1992 slaying.
The Warren County sheriff’s office says persistent pursuit of leads led to a break in the homicide probe of 41-year-old Richard Woods’ death. The furniture salesman from the Columbus, Ohio, area was found in woods near Lebanon on Nov. 9, 1992, more than a month after he disappeared after a business call.
Court records show that 67-year-old Sam Perone of Phoenix was arrested. No attorney is listed.
Authorities last year indicated they had new information. They in recent years have used newer forensic techniques to develop evidence.
The Warren County prosecutor’s office declined Thursday to comment on the case, pending a sheriff’s press conference planned Friday.
