Bond set at $1M for man charged with killing mom, girlfriend

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (AP) – An Ohio man who police say confessed to fatally shooting his mother and girlfriend while high on the drug known as bath salts is being held with a $1 million bond.

The bond was set Friday for 31-year-old Travis Bonham in municipal court in Mount Vernon, northeast of Columbus. He appeared via a video feed from the Knox County jail.

He’s charged with two counts of murder, theft of a gun, illegally having a weapon and tampering with evidence. A message was left with his attorney.

Bonham told police he shot his mother, 50-year-old Sandra Selk, and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Jaime Linn Barber, on Sept. 29 while he was high on bath salts, a synthetic drug with mood-altering and stimulant properties.
