BOARDMAN TWP, Ohio (WKBN) – Halloween isn’t just for humans — people from all across the Valley came to enjoy a free family friendly afternoon with their special pooch at Boardman Park on Sunday.

Boardman Park and Animal Charity hosted a Howl-O-Ween Canine Carnival at the Masters Pavilion and Lariccia Bocce Court. It was a howling good time with activities including a doggy costume contest, 4-H agility demonstrations, the Boardman Police K9 unit, non-profit dog rescue organizations, presentations by local vets, vendors, bounce-a-rounds, and more.

“As the local humane society, we want to really promote responsible dog ownership and responsible dog activities,” said Mary Louk, president of the Animal Charity board. “We like to have people come out with their dogs and visit, and we love to see the rescues that we’ve adopted out come back and visit us knowing that they’re in happy homes.”

Proceeds from the event benefit Animal Charity and Marge Hartman’s Paws Town at Boardman Park.
