HOWLAND, OH (WKBN)-The Niles girls soccer team earned their 2nd draw of the season Monday night after tying Howland 1-1.
The Red Dragons entered the contest with the rival Tigers ranked 9th in the state in the latest Division II coaches poll.
Niles got off to a slow start, allowing Howland to dictate the pace of play. Just over ten minutes into the game, Niles committed a foul in the box giving Howland’s Morgan Scott a chance from the penalty spot. The Tigers lone senior converted, giving Howland a 1-0 lead.
The only other goal of the game came later in the half when Hannah Ward found Bethany Rasile right in front of the Tigers goalkeeper which she calmly put in to tie the game.
Kamryn Buckley made four saves for Howland while Niles keeper Vada Flannery made three.
Niles moves to 12-2-2, Howland goes to 7-6-3.
