Ohio Highway Patrol investigates fatal Trumbull County crash

JOHNSTON TWP. (WKBN)- The Warren post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a fatal crash on State Route 88 in Johnston Township on Monday.

Troopers were called out to the scene of the accident at 11:18 a.m. and found a 2007 Nissan XTerra off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle, driven by 61-year-old Silas Titchnell, Jr., had struck a ditch and a small bridge, according to a news release from Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Titchnell, a Kinsman resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway Patrol said alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. Titchnell was not wearing a seat belt.
