Contract expires, Delphi workers stay on the job

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Union employees are on the job Tuesday at Delphi’s Larchmont Avenue plant in Warren.

The contract between Delphi and the Communications Workers local 717 ended at midnight, but workers are still doing their jobs Tuesday.

Union officials said they are taking negotiations on an “hour by hour” basis and that they have been negotiating nonstop for the past 24 hours.

The local represents about 600 workers.

Delphi once employed 14,000 in the Valley before it went bankrupt 10 years ago this month.
