WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Demolition crews have begun knocking down the former Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office in Warren.

The old garage is located on Panther Avenue NE, next to Warren G. Harding High School. The nearby lot still houses some police cruisers and other equipment.

Crews expected that the garage bays would be leveled by the end of the day on Wednesday.

The demolition is just one of many completed in the city this year. Last week, the city demolished the vacant home where deceased Warren resident, Carly Ginnicks, was found. Earlier this year, crews tore down the former Warren Harley-Davidson building at High Street and Vine Avenue and the old 77 Soul building, a club known to be a trouble spot in Warren.

City and county officials have stressed the importance of keeping the momentum going when it comes to removing blight in the county. They are holding a hearing on October 22 to talk about a new nuisance abatement initiative.
