Detective: 6 officers fired at man killed by Ohio police

CLEVELAND (AP) – Authorities say six officers fired at an armed man who was killed by police after robbing a suburban Cleveland pizza restaurant.

The man was identified Friday as 31-year-old Michael Brennan of Lakewood. He was fatally shot Thursday after crashing his pickup truck on Interstate 480 just inside the Cleveland border. Police say he earlier robbed a Papa John’s Pizza in Parma Heights.

A Parma Heights detective says that when officers ordered Brennan out of the truck, he was holding the gun. That’s when six officers fired their weapons. It wasn’t clear how many shots were fired.

Four of the officers were from Parma Heights, with one each from the suburbs of Parma and Brooklyn.

Investigators are trying to determine if the gun was real or a replica.
